    H.S. tennis: NFA girls sweep doubles to rally past St. Bernard

    Montville — Vianey Hinostroza won at No. 4 singles and Norwich Free Academy swept its doubles matches to rally past St. Bernard, 4-3, in a season-opening Eastern Connecticut Conference interdivisional girls’ tennis match on Monday.

    The teams of Carina Montero-Katie Lavoie, Jasmine Phoumindr-Carissa Testut and Hailie Davidson-Paulina Grzelczok all won in straight sets for the Wildcats.

    Meri Kambolli, Sasha Manzione and Blake Murray won the first three singles matches, respectively, for the Saints.

    In other matches:

    • Julia Mielguj and Charlotte and Maddie Beaulieu didn’t drop a point in their respective singles matches as Fitch swept Montville 7-0. Izzy Ash and Ada Ellis, Sophie Ash and Kelly Turley and Liz Henderson and Lucy Doyle-Kusy won at doubles for the Falcons.

    • Sam Tan, Elaina Morosky and Katherine Zhang didn’t lose a point in their respective singles wins as Old Lyme topped East Hampton 7-0 in a Shoreline Conference match. Callie Bass won in straight sets at No. 3 singles for the Wildcats, who have won 44 straight matches, while the doubles teams of Livie Bass and Alexis Fenton, Aggie and Beatrice Hunt and Izzy Reynolds and Stella Young all won 6-0, 6-0.

    • Killingly beat New London, 5-2. Cashel Jones won her singles match for New London while Nakayla Issac and Delande Forestal won at doubles.

    Boys

    • Brady O’Neil, Matthew Turrisi and Chase Donnarummo all won in straight sets for Stonington in its 6-1 win over East Lyme in an ECC Division I match. The teams of Conrad Tobiassen-Tucker Callahan, Sam Lund-Joshua Lord and Peter Schoenecker-Grant Owens also gave the Bears a doubles sweep. Rohan Purohit won at No. 2 singles for the Vikings.

    • Will Albrikes, Andres Sardar and Evan Whitten won at singles for Fitch in its 6-1 win over Waterford in an ECC Division I match. The teams of Ryan Mignosa-Michael McBride, Morgan Fisher-Nicholas Sousa and Andre Nickerson-Michael Petropoulos won at doubles for the Falcons. Peter Colonis won at No. 3 singles for the Lancers.

    • Cooper Munson, Charles Hinckley and Griffin McGlinchey all won by scores of 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1-3 singles, respectively, as Old Lyme downed East Hampton 7-0 in a Shoreline Conference match. The team of Micah Bass-Will Danes also won at No. 1 doubles for the Wildcats.

    • Andrew Jack Giurleo, Brendan Duhamel, Benny Wu and Matt Malbaurn won in straight sets for Montville in its 7-0 win over Lyman Memorial in an ECC Division III match. Jack Bowman and Nathan Dhillon, Ryan Yang and Danny Zhong and Ryan Hochdorfer and Zach Thomas won at doubles for Montville.
