    High school track roundup: East Lyme boys forge their way to the lead in ECC Division I

    East Lyme — East Lyme High School won the battle of the track and field unbeatens, topping Fitch 96-56 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I boys’ meet Wednesday.

    Matt Leone won the 110 hurdles (16.6) and 300 hurdles (44.4) and Thomas Matlock won the shot put (50-4) and discus (135-7) to lead the Vikings (4-0, 3-0). Jilali Benjdid won the 1,600 (4:44.1) and tied for first place in the 3,200 with teammates Matthew Carrier and Nate Bergman.

    Charles Tarbox of Fitch (4-1, 2-1) won the 100 (11.3) and 200 (23.1).

    In other meets:

    • Ledyard beat Waterford 106-44 in an ECC Division II meet. The Colonels (5-0, 4-0) got wins from Auguste Estriplet, Gabe Huff, Jackson Hill, Myles Strekfuss, Dhelin Conde, Samuel Almeida, Christian Wiltshire, Luca Viviano and Jacob Lenz.

    Elliot Childs of Waterford (1-2, 1-2) won three events, the 110 hurdles (15.50), 300 hurdles (42.80) and triple jump (39-11). Waterford’s Evan Piotrowski ran a pair of personal bests in winning the 100 (11.20) and 200 (22.30).

    • Jake Martino won four events as Bacon Academy beat Montville 115.33-34.67 and Windham 85-65. Windham beat Montville 102-47 in an ECC Division III meet. Martino won the 110 hurdles (16.7), shot put (45-7), discus (139-9) and javelin (137-8). Ryan Moores of Bacon (5-1) won the 800 (2:02.7) and 3,200 (10:32). Aiden Ocampo of Montville (4-3, 2-1) won the 200 (26.4).

    • Norwich Free Academy beat Woodstock Academy 96-54 in an ECC Division I meet. Moshea Gittens Brown won the 110 hurdles (16.6) and 300 hurdles (43.8) for the Wildcats (1-2, 1-2).

    Girls

    • Darielys Arnold, Kmara Royster and Tatianna Pemberton won two events each as New London beat Stonington 76-62 in an ECC Division II meet. Arnold won the 100 (12.21) and long jump (17-5), Royster won the 100 hurdles (15.84) and javelin (76-3) and Pemberton won the triple jump (33-7) and 300 hurdles (54.92). Leilani Robinson, Naylce Dudley, Natalie Kemp and Adrianna Benjamin also won events for the Whalers (3-2, 1-2).

    • Linda Holeman and Anessa Robertson won two events each as Ledyard beat Waterford 82-67 in an ECC Division II meet. Holeman won the javelin (103.5-) and 100 (12.9) and Robertson won the discus (61-6.5) and shot put (28-4) for the Colonels (5-0, 4-0). Colleen Corman of Waterford (1-2, 1-2) won the 100 hurdles (17.60) and 300 hurdles (52.20) and teammate Avery Maiese won the 1,600 in a school-record time of 5:31.

    • Avery Anderson, Megan Braga and Natalie Chesnes were double winners as Bacon Academy beat Montville 89-61 and Windham 131-18. Montville beat Windham 99-45 in an ECC Division III meet. Anderson won the 800 (2:41) and 1,600 (5:25), Braga won the 100 hurdles (16.1) and 300 hurdles (51.2) and Chesnes won the shot put (27-7.5) and discus (69.5) for Bacon (4-2). Samyuktha Kuruchi of Montville (6-1, 3-0) won the long jump (15-4) and triple jump (31-8).

    • Lacey-Lee Keramidas won three events as East Lyme beat Fitch 120.5-20.5 in an ECC Division I meet. Keramidas won the shot put (29-9), discus (90-6) and pole vault (8-6). Ava Pitruzzello of East Lyme (3-1, 2-1) won the 100 (13.3) and 200 (27.2). Emma Forde of Fitch (1-4, 0-3) won the 800 in 2:32.
