    Puleo wins SK Modified race as Speedbowl opens its season

    Waterford – Jon Puleo has limited starts in the SK Modified ranks at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl, but that didn’t stop him from winning the Blast Off season-opening race on Saturday night.

    Other winners were Jason Palmer in the 30-lap Late Model race, Nickolas Hovey in the 25-lap SK Lights race, Brian Norman in the 25-lap Street Stocks race, Tyler Chapman in the 25-lap Trucks race, John Bavolacco in the 25-lap Mini Stocks race and Jase Mongeon in the 25-lap INEX Legend Cars race.

    The win was the first in the division for Puleo. Timmy Jordan finished second and Todd Owen was third. Puleo took the lead early in the SK race and held off an early challenge from Joey Gada. Jordan pulled ahead of Puleo on a restart 10 laps in. Puleo also managed to avoid an incident with nine laps to go and went on to the win.

    Palmer had to fight off defending champion Ray Christian III and Cory DiMatteo in the Late Model race as the three drivers pulled away from the field. DiMatteo finished second and Christian was third. Norman led the Street Stocks race from start to finish. Tony Macrino was second and Al Stone III finish third.

    Sami Anderson was second in the SK Lights race and Evan Bourgeois was third. Brody Monahan was second in the Trucks race with Kyle Gero finishing third. Christopher Garside finished second in the Mini Stocks race with Bill Sylvia third. Zachary Martinez was second and Dylan Freeman came in third in the Legend race.
