    Local roundup: Ledyard girls beat Old Lyme lacrosse in OT

    Ledyard — Tatianna Irizarry’s goal just 45 seconds into sudden death overtime gave Ledyard a 7-6 nonconference girls’ lacrosse victory over Old Lyme on Friday.

    Irizarry finished with three goals and one assist for the Colonels (12-1) while Maddie McLeod finished with two goals and one assist, Mackenzie Boyer and Helena Robinson each scored a goal, Jess English had an assist and goalie Lorelai England mad seven saves.

    Alexis Antonellis scored three goals for the Wildcats (10-4) while Kelly Sheehan scored twice, Ella Curtis-Reardon had one goal and one assist and goalie Kylie Dishaw made seven saves.

    College baseball

    • UConn Avery Point defeated Monroe Community College 3-1 in Game 1 of the Regional 3 and 21 Sub District Championship series in Rochester, N.Y. Game two of the series is Saturday at 1 p.m. Alex Mach (3-1) was the winning pitcher while Malcolm Mention led the Pointers’ 13-hit attack with three hits and three RBI and Vance Ward was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

    H.S. baseball

    • Andrew McElwee had a single, double and four RBI to carry Montville to a 15-5 nonleague win over Ellis Tech. McElwee was also the winning pitcher for Montville (6-11), striking out seven over six innings, while Hunter Sylvia had two hits and two RBI and Jack Treat had an RBI double.

    • Donte Valentine’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh drove in Isaac Frank to give Fitch a 3-2 win over Norwich Free Academy in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I game. Frank, who had three hits, led off the inning with a single and stole second. Valentine added two hits for the Falcons (9-8, 3-2) while Dylan Meyer pitched a three-hitter and struck out eight. NFA is 8-9, 1-4).

    • Norwich Tech handed Grasso Tech its first CTC Charter Oak loss with an 8-7 win on Thursday. Tito Arias, Jesus Sanchez and Jaivon Velez had three hits apiece for the Eagles (10-7, 9-1) while Malaki Mercado had two triples and drove in three runs for the Warriors (7-10, 5-4) while Joshua Hanks had a single, double and scored three runs.

    H.S. boys’ tennis

    • Old Lyme’s Leland HIne and Mason Wells rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles to give Old Lyme a 4-3 nonleague win over Ledyard. Griffin McGlinchey, Andy Sicuranza and Alis Bicic added singles wins for the Wildcats (14-2) while Ben Fieldsend won at No. 1 singles for the Colonels (7-7) along with the doubles teams of Sebastian Fieldsend-Mallach Allison and Henrick Trieu-Hunter Divincenzo.

    • East Lyme won three of four singles matches to defeat Waterford 5-2 in an ECC Division I match. Jiarui Peng, Ajay Rana and Kenny Zheng won for the Vikings (8-2, 2-2), who also picked up doubles wins from Rohan Purohit-Rohun Boopathy and Charlie Yang-Siddhanth Jang. Peter Colonis won at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (6-5, 0-5) as did the No. 2 doubles team of Arthur Dhervilly-Adam Bertrand.

    H.S. girls’ tennis

    • Riddhi Bansal-Jeanette Liu, Gracie Davis-Kylee Johnston and Lila Aram-Jayden Price swept the doubles matches to highlight East Lyme’s 6-1 win over NFA. Mara Wolff, Avni Kabra and Avery Rindell added singles wins for the Vikings (5-7). Katie Lavoir won at No. 4 singles for NFA (4-9).

    • Singles wins by Grace Duggan, Maddie Gonzalez and Emily Fulling lifted Stonington to a 5-2 nonleague win over Hand. The Bears (10-1) also picked up doubles wins from Misha and Marina Lewandowski and Gwen McGugan-Angelina Williams.

    • Norwich Tech ended its regular season with a 5-2 win over Prince Tech on Thursday. Amaris Morena and Alex Lopez were singles winners for the Warriors (6-4) along with the doubles teams of Zerrin Ratzer-Emily Pomerleau and Ildanita Campos-Sophia Caballero.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Rockville rallied for a 3-2 win over NFA. Game scores were 25-20, 12-25, 24-26, 25-21 and 15-10 on Thursday night. Paul Ericson had 37 assists, 12 digs, two blocks and a kill for the Wildcats (12-5) while Edwin Santana Hernandez added 16 kills, one ace and one dig, Gage Hinkley had seven kills, five aces, four blocks and three digs, and Jhon Lopez Choc had 16 digs, one ace, two kills and two assists.

    H.S. boys’ lacrosse

    • East Lyme kept its grip on first place in ECC Division I with a 9-7 win over Waterford on Thursday night. Jack Keating scored three goals for the Vikings (8-6, 6-1) while Drew Sager had two goals and one assist, Sawyer Tighe one goal and four assists, Aiden Patterson two goals, Reagan Pierce three assists and Gavin White one goal. Jackson Huta had three goals and an assist for the Lancers (10-5, 5-3) while Trevor Stringer and Ayden Bousquet added two goals apiece.

    • Logan Jenkins had five goals and an assist to highlight NFA’s 12-11 win over Fitch in an ECC Division I game. Tommy Brunelli added three goals, Anthony Ballestrini two, Conor Gaughan a goal and three assists and goalie Patrick Lawson had 19 saves for the Wildcats (9-3, 5-2). Boden Frost scored four goals and goalie Evan Hicks made 12 saves for the Falcons (8-6, 2-5).

    Women’s lacrosse

    • Nike Miles and Maria Themelis scored four goals apiece as Penn defeated UConn 13-8 in the first round of the NCAA Division I tournament at Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Quakers (14-4) will face Boston College in Sunday’s second round. Morgan Carter scored four goals and Lia LaPrise had three goals and an assist for the Huskies, who finish 12-7.
