    H.S. lacrosse: Stonington girls beat Ledyard 16-8 in matchup of ECC divisional champions

    Stonington — Emma Logel scored eight goals as unbeaten Stonington pulled away in the second half for a 16-8 girls’ lacrosse victory over Ledyard on Tuesday night.

    The Bears (15-0) won the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II title while the Colonels (14-2) were the Division III champions.

    Shay Burnside and Emma Spathakis aded three goals apiece for Stonington while Norah Walsh had one goal and one assist and Lillian Loughlean scored a goal.

    Jessica English and Helena Robinson had two goals apiece for the Colonels while Tatianna Irizarry had a goal and an assist and Maddie McLeod, Mackenzier Boyer and Lauren Cully each scored once.

    In other games:

    • Dani Bruno had four goals and two assists as East Lyme finished unbeaten in ECC Divison I play with an 18-1 win over Fitch. Alanna Benoit added four goals and an assist for the Vikings (14-1, 6-0) while Izzy Pazzaglia scored four goals, Summer Sistare had a goal and five assists, Meg Nagle had two goals and one assist and Abbie Belleville had one goal and one assist. Bethany Lovering scored for Fitch (2-13, 2-4).

    • Sophia Gouveia had five goals and two assists to lead Wheeler to a 15-8 victory over Griswold/Norwich Tech in an ECC Division III game. Grace Cassata added four goals and an assist for the Lions (8-5, 3-2), while Ellen Anderson had two goals and an assist, Ava Davino and Katheryn Delgrosso each had one goal and two assists, Katie Pierce and Stella Mastroianni each had one goal and one assists and goalie Anna Barber made 19 saves. Emily Aviles and Sienna Caron scored three goals apiece for the Wolverines (5-10, 3-4) while Ava Casey and Kaylin Stockwell each added a goal.

    • Bacon Academy defeated Montville 11-7 in an ECC Division II game. The Bobcats are 9-4, 3-4. Lily Tomczik scored five goals for Montville (7-8, 3-5) while Kylie Spreng scored twice, Karissa Hochdorfer had one assist and goalie Kate Koning made eight saves.

    • Lauren Friedrich had five goals and four assists to highlight Norwich Free Academy’s 17-6 win over Woodstock Academy in an ECC Division I game. Molly Page added four goals and one assist for the Wildcats (5-9, 4-2) while Alex Tabilas and Hayleigh Young each had two goals and one assist, Leah Burchman scored twice and Rachel Martin had one goal and one assist.

    Boys

    • Morgan defeated Stonington 11-8 in a nonleague game. Ben Massengale and Nathan Mahoney each had three goals and one assist for the Bears (13-2) while Ethan Mahoney had a goal and three assists, Will French had a goal and won 20 of 22 faceoffs, and Cam Elenteny and Tyler Simao each had one assist. Morgan is 10-5.

    • Ben Howes had four goals and two assists to highlight St. Bernard/Wheeler’s 8-5 win over Montville in an ECC Division II game. Marc Sauchuk added three goals and two assists for the Saints (5-9, 4-4), Noah Courter scored a goal, Skyler Wilson had two assists and goalie Johannes Zachhuber made 14 saves. Ethan Johnson had two goals and an assist for Montville (5-9, 2-6), Jacob Watson, Gavin DeLucia and Chris Baukus each scored a goal, Luis Salas-Montalvo had two assists and Darien Sherwood made 21 saves in goal.

    • Ethan LoVetere’s four goals and one assist helped Bacon Academy defeat Ledyard/Griswold 17-2 in an ECC Division II game. Jameson Pirro also scored four goals for the Bobcats (9-6, 6-3) while Jack Holmes and Avatar Disher had two goals and one assist apice, Ethan Foley scored twice and Gavin Emmons had a goal and two assists. Brian Johnson and Liam Gervais scored goals for the Colonels (0-15, 0-8).

    • Brendan Li had three goals and three assists to lead Williams School to a 10-5 win over Forman in the semifinals of the Housatonic Valley Athletic League tournament. Tyler Gagliardi added four goals for the Blues (9-3), who will play at Harvey School on Thursday in the title game. Marc Macera added two goals for Williams while Ben Xenelis and Cody DeLaurentis each had two assists and eight ground balls, Baker Katko scored a goal, Henry Champagne had two assists and goalie Henry Gallagher made 14 saves.
