    H.S. softball roundup: Skrabacz pitches no-hitter as Whalers win

    Thompson – Alina Skrabacz pitched a no-hitter as New London beat Tourtellotte 18-0 in five innings in a nonleague softball game on Thursday.

    Skrabacz struck out nine with one walk and also singled, had an RBI double and scored twice. Italia Salls had two hits, scored twice and drove in three runs, Amaya Outler and Nichelle Tucker each scored three runs and drove in two and Yomairis Santiago had an RBI double for the Whalers (6-13).

    In other games:

    • Olivia Kane hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning as St. Bernard beat Wheeler 7-6 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division IV game. The Saints (10-7, 5-2) scored five runs in the seventh. Anabelle Wenzel singled, tripled and drove in two runs, Alyssa Lazarou had two hits and Kane was 3-for-4 and scored twice. Addie Stanley, Morgyn Perkins and Reese Main had two hits each for Wheeler (11-7, 4-4).

    • Natalia Vernale had three hits and drove in three runs as Bacon Academy beat Norwich Tech 11-8. Jazlyn Small-Yu homered and Vernale scored twice for the Bobcats (4-12). Caity Flynn had two triples and scored twice, Khaiyanna Maldonado hit a two-run homer and Autumn Hanks scored three runs for Norwich Tech (17-3).

    • Stonington beat Platt Tech 8-0. Cami Brown had two hits and scored twice, Ari Scavello had two hits and winning pitcher Lindsey Houle struck out six for the Bears (14-5).

    • Montville closed out its season with a 17-0 win over Putnam. Ava Gero, Maddie Taylor, Isabella Mitchell, Almaz Sklodosky and Amelia Smarz had two hits each for Montville (5-15) and Gero and Mitchell drove in two runs each.

    • Seymour scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning and went on to beat East Lyme 4-2. East Lyme pitcher Abby Robinson had two hits, including a double, and struck out 14. Arleen McKiernan, Grace DuBrava and Ava Korineck had two hits each for the Vikings (9-10).

    • Emma Bayor had a big day at the plate and on the mound as Old Lyme finished Shoreline Conference play with a 9-1 win over Morgan on Wednesday. The junior pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, three RBI and two runs. Jame Bucior added two doubles, two RBI and two runs for the Wildcats while Sybil Neary had a single, triple and run.
