Ledyard — Lorelai England made eight saves, including a critical one late in the game, as the 15th-seeded Ledyard High School girls’ lacrosse team edged No. 18 Wethersfield 9-8 Friday in the qualifying round of the Class M state tournament.

Maddie McLeod had three goals for Ledyard (15-3) and Helena Robinson, Jess English and Tatianna Irizarry two goals each. Sophie Adams finished with three goals and an assist for Wethersfield.

Ledyard advanced to play at No. 2 Hand in the first round at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

• No. 14 Waterford rolled to a 14-4 win over No. 19 Bristol Eastern in Class M qualifying. Marin Mahoney scored three goals for the Lancers (12-7), including the 100th of her career, while Victoria Sturm added two goals and two assists, Sadie Tiven, Payton Smith and Madison LaForte each scored twice, Quinn Brigham had a goal and two assists, Adyson Wiseman one goal and one assist and Sophia Scarpa scored a goal. Up next for Waterford is a trip to No. 3 Guilford in the first round on Tuesday.

• Lily Tomczik had eight goals and two assists as No. 14 Montville defeated No. 19 Watertown 19-10 in Class S qualifying. The Wolves (9-8) visit No. 3 Sacred Heart in the first round on Tuesday in Hamden. Reagan Buscetto added five goals and one assist for Montville while Karissa Hochdorfer had two goals and two assists, Kylie Spreng scored twice, Kate Bowman had two assists, Anna Bubucis and Bella Estelle each scored a goal and goalie Katie Koning made 10 saves.

• Ella Curtiss Reardon had a nine-point day (5 goals, 4 assists) as No. 13 Old Lyme rolled to an 18-10 win over No. 20 Wheeler in Class S qualifying. The Wildcats (12-6) will visit No. 4 Canton in Tuesday’s first round. Alexis Antonellis aded four goals for Old Lyme while Sydney Goulding had three goals and one assist, Maya Lequire two goals and one assist, Kelly Sheehan two goals, Gretch Burgess one goal and one assist and Grace Ferman one goal. Sophia Gouveia had seven goals and one assist to lead the Lions, who finished 8-8, while Katelyn Pierce, Ellen Anderson and Grace Cassata each scored once.

Boys’ lacrosse

• Tate Gordon had four goals and four assists and Roman Rich and Evan Salen added four goals each as No. 13 Fitch defeated No. 20 Norwich Tech/Windham Tech 19-4 in the Class M qualifying round. Boden Frost finished with three goals and four assists for Fitch (10-7) and Evan Hicks made 10 saves. Norwich Tech/Windham Tech finished 6-9. Fitch will next play No. 4 Guilford in the first round Wednesday.

• No. 15 Waterford broke open a tight game with six goals in the third quarter as the Lancers beat No. 18 Holy Cross 12-4 in Class S qualifying. Trevor Stringer scored five goals for Waterford (11-7), which travels to No. 2 Weston in Wednesday’s first round, while Jackson Huta added two goals and one assist, Griffin Neal had one goal and one assist, Terrance Silva, Xavier Del Grosso, Logan Peabody and T.J. Bailey each scored a goal, Ayden Bousquet and Cole Baumgartner each had assists and goalie Dylan McCarthy made 14 saves.

• No. 13 McMahon ousted No. 20 Norwich Free Academy 17-3 in Class L qualifying. Tommy Brunelli had two goals and one assist for the Wildcats, who finish 10-8, while Loggan Jenkins scored a goal, Anthony Ballestrini had an assist and goalie Patrick Lawson made 10 saves.

Boys’ tennis

• Cooper Munson, Charles Hinckley, Griffin McGlinchey and Andy Sicuranza won singles matches and No. 7 Old Lyme moved on to the quarterfinals of the Class S state tournament with a 7-0 win over No. 10 Litchfield. Old Lyme will play the winner of Saturday’s match between Morgan and East Catholic. Micah Bass and Will Danes won at No. 1 doubles, Leland Hine and Aidan Kerrigan at No. 2 and Mason Wells and Alis Bicic at No. 3.

• Brendan Duhamel won at No. 2 singles and Montville swept the three doubles matches as the 13th-seeded Wolves edged No. 20 Northwest Catholic 4-3 in the qualifying round of the Class S tournament. Duhamel beat Cooper Mason 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, while all three doubles teams won in straight sets. The doubles winners were Danny Zhong and Ryan Yang, Nathan Dhillon and Jack Bowman and Ryan Hochdorfer and Darren Chen. Montville goes on to play No. 4 Nonnewaug in the first round Saturday.

• Karthik Pyneni outlasted Evan Whitten 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (6) at No. 4 singles for the deciding point that gave No. 12 Farmington a 4-3 win over No. 5 Fitch in the Class L first round. Will Albrikes rallied for a 5-7, 7-6 (7), 6-3 win at No. 1 singles for the Falcons, who finish 13-5, while Anders Sarder won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Ryan Mignosa-Michael McBride won 6-3, 7-6 (7) at No. 2 doubles.

Girls’ tennis

• Maria Hathaway rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles to highlight No. 12 Waterford’s 7-0 win over No. 21 Seymour in Class M qualifying. Sarah Hage, Michelle Liu and Ava Tinnerello added singles wins for the Lancers (11-5), who visit No. 5 Nonnewaug in Saturday’s first round, while Hazel Siu-Sophia Sit, Maple Siu-Bri Kilcomons and Grace Stilphen-Kyra Tuckwood won doubles matches.

Softball

• O’Brien Tech pitcher MeKenzie Revere struck out 14 as O’Brien Tech topped Norwich Tech 13-1 in five innings in the CTC championship game. Nani Garcia, Norwich Tech’s freshman second baseman, led off the third inning with a single for the team’s only hit of the day. Stephanie Tamburrino had two triples and scored four runs for O’Brien Tech.

Boys’ golf

• Wheeler improved to 17-1 by defeating host Stonington 5.5-1.5 and Tourtellotte 7-0. The Bears (12-6) also beat Tourtellotte 7-0. Wheeler’s Cameron Conway shot a 37 to edge Stonington’s Ethan Torres (38) in their No. 2 match and also for medalist honors. The Lions’ Tyler Signor added a 40 while four players shot 41 — Stonington’s Brandon Tavares, Connor Tavares and Cam O’Connor and Wheeler’s Gavin Arruda.

Girls’ golf

• NFA’s Caroline Godere earned medalist honors with a 36 as the Wildcats beat Bacon Academy 193-247 in an ECC match at Chanticlair GC in Colchester. Rianna Cavanna added a 49 for the Wildcats (14-1, 12-0) while Mia Belcamino had a 53 to lead the Bobcats.
