Local roundup: Reischeri leads Norwich Legion to victory
Norwich — David Reischeri drove in four runs as Norwich beat Tri-Town 11-1 in a Zone 6 American Legion baseball game Thursday.
The game ended after six innings on a mercy rule. Daniel St. George allowed three hits and one run over 5.2 innings for the win and struck out seven with one walk.
Reischeri was 3-for-4 and scored twice for Norwich (4-1). Anthony Sanchez was 2-for-3 and scored three runs, Derek Macy was 2-for-2 and also scored three runs, Randy Jimenez drove in two runs and Chris Southworth tripled for Norwich.
• Right-hander Brandon Baker pitched 6.2 shutout innings and Danielson took an early lead on the way to a 4-1 victory over Waterford. Evan McCue, Martin Light and Justin Saad each had hits to lead Waterford (4-2).
In Wednesday’s game, Anthony Jessuck pitched six shutout innings for the win as Waterford beat Danielson 3-0. Jessuck allowed three hits with seven strikeouts. Ethan Chavez got the final three outs to earn a save. Aiden Whitten and Cam McGugan had two hits each for Waterford and Brian Ingraham drove in a run.
Sea Unicorns lose
• The New Britain Bees beat the Norwich Sea Unicorns 7-4 in a Futures Collegiate Baseball League game. Dean Ferrera (Fairfield) was 3-for-4 with a double, Ray Leonzi (Eastern Connecticut) was 2-for-4 with a triple and Jackson Ferrigno (Northern Alabama) had two hits for Norwich (14-11).
