    Ledyard Football Hall of Fame to induct five new members during Oct. 13 game against Waterford

    Ledyard — Ledyard High School will induct five new members into its Football Hall of Fame during halftime of the Colonels’ Friday, Oct. 13 game against Waterford at Bill Mignault Field.

    The 12th annual class includes Edward Gladue (Class of 1974), John Quagan (1990), Mike Quagan (1992), Kyle Wilson (2013) and Ty Ebdon (2016).

    “It is an honor to announce the newest members of our football hall of fame,” athletic director Jim Buonocore said in a release. “The group consists of award winning multi-sport athletes who represented our school community with class and character during their time as a Colonel.

    “I was fortunate to coach Kyle and Ty during my tenure as head football coach and I am so proud of not only their accomplishments while student-athletes at Ledyard High School, but also of their achievements beyond high school. Ed was an outstanding team leader during his career and starred on both sides of the football while the Quagan brothers are among the most highly regarded football families in Ledyard history.

    “I look forward to welcoming this class, along with their family and friends, to a very special homecoming weekend in Ledyard.”

    • Edward Gladue was a three-sport standout, serving as captain of the football, wrestling and baseball teams. He was an ECC All-Star as a defensive back and quarterback in football and helped the wrestling team win two state class titles and one State Open championship. Gladue continued his wrestling career at Central Connecticut, later served as a youth football, basketball and soccer in Ledyard for seven years and retired after a 37-year career at Electric Boat.

    • John Quagan was a three-year varsity letter winner and All-ECC performer as a defensive back, halfback and kicker while serving as a captain in 1989. He was also a three-year varsity baseball player and a captain in 1990. Quagan attended UConn Avery Point before joining the Connecticut Army National Guard. He currently serves as vice-president of player development at Mohegan Sun.

    • Mike Quagan was a three-year starter at fullback and linebacker, leading Ledyard to the 1991 Class MM state championship where he was named co-MVP. Quagan was a two time All-ECC and All-Area selection in football, earned four varsity lettters in baseball where he earned all-state honors and was named The Day’s Player of the Year in 1992. Quagan played football and baseball at Norwich University, graduated with a degree in computer information systems and is currently the supervisor of planning at Electric Boat.

    • Kyle Wilson was a three-year starter at offensive tackle and defensive end leading the Colonels to the 2011 ECC title and Class M state championship game. He was named to the All-ECC, All-Area and CHSCA All-State football teams in 2011 and 2012, was named to the prestigious Walter Camp All-State team was Thanksgiving Day game MVP in 2012. Wilson was also a two-time all-state pick in indoor and outdoor track, setting a school record in the shot put. He currently serves as a project manager for A/Z Corporation.

    • Ty Ebdon is one of the most decorated quarterbacks in Ledyard history. Ebdon threw for a school record 71 touchdowns and 5,168 yards during his career. He was 32-6 as a starter and led the Colonels to the 2013, 2014 and 2015 CIAC state football playoffs. The 2014 team finished the regular season unbeaten before losing in the state championship. Ebdon was named All-ECC in 2013 and 2014 was named All-Area in 2014 and 2015. Ebdon was also a four-year member of the baseball team. He continued his football career at Massachusetts Maritime Academy and currently works as an engineer for Hornbeck Offshore.
