    Local roundup: NFA volleyball remains unbeaten with 3-1 victory over Ledyard

    Norwich — The Norwich Free Academy volleyball team remained unbeaten with a 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 25-12, win over Ledyard on Friday.

    Stella Hogan had 21 digs and four kills, Evelina Klyukin had 17 digs, six kills and four aces and Faustine Canales Arrieta had eight assists, seven digs and four aces for the Wildcats (5-0). Shyann McKeon had eight aces and six kills, Emily Peckham had five aces and Keara Opelinik had five kills for Ledyard (1-2).

    In other matches:

    • East Lyme rallied for a 3-1 win over Griswold. The Wolverines (0-3) won the first game 25-21 before the Vikings rallied to win 25-15, 25-19 and 25-16. Skylar Bell had 23 digs, Bella Diep had 33 assists, Addison Soleau had eight kills and Abby Parulis had 10 kills and four aces for East Lyme (3-1). Ruby Logan had 14 digs, Gretta Dombkowski had seven kills, six aces and four digs, Abby Matheson had 15 kills and nine digs and Kierra Neilson had seven kills and two blocks for Griswold (0-3).

    • Danica Agsalud had 25 assists and eight digs as Waterford beat Woodstock Academy 3-1. Jennifer Macca-Barnes had 12 kills and 11 digs, Ava Majeski had 22 digs and Emerson Lane had 11 kills, 11 digs and four blocks for the Lancers (1-1), who won 25-20, 29-27, 19-25, 27-25.

    • Old Lyme suffered its first loss of the season, losing to Haddam-Killingworth 3-2 in a Shoreline Conference match. Peighton Andrews had 17 kills and 11 digs, Grace Phaneuf had 27 assists and Kate Mullaney had 13 digs for Old Lyme (3-1, 3-1). Reese Timothy had 12 aces, 13 assists and 10 kills for HK, which won 21-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 15-11.

    • Ellis Tech swept Grasso Tech in a Connecticut Technical Conference match, 25-14, 25-15, 25-16. Emma Pavlak had nine kills and two blocks and A’zarria Darden had five digs and one kill for Grasso (0-3, 0-2).

    H.S. swimming

    • Ruby Thoms won a pair of events as East Lyme beat NFA 84-67 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference meet that was the season opener for both teams. Thoms won the 200 freestyle (2:18.02) and the 400 freestyle (6:14.42). Lauren Hinckley, Grace Xu and Jennifer Park also own events for the Vikings. NFA’s Natalie Bezanson won the 200 individual medley (2:27.27) and 100 backstroke (1:09.45) and teammate Stephanie Herr won the 100 breaststroke.

    • Waterford opened its season with a 106-54 win over Ledyard/St. Bernard in an ECC meet. Julia Gathy won the 200 and 500 freestyles, Hannah Blomberg won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke and Elizabeth Saucier won the 100 backstroke for the Lancers.

    College volleyball

    • Connecticut College’s three-game winning streak came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Colby in the New England Small College Athletic Conference opener for both teams. Colby (3-2) won 25-10, 25-8 and 25-20. Zoe Watts led the Camels (3-3) with six kills and five digs, Emma Wheeler and Rae Wartelle had four kills each and Katherine Randall had three kills.

    College women’s soccer

    • Morgan Smiley’s goal in the first half stood up as Bowdoin defeated Conn College 1-0 in the NESCAC. The Camels are 2-2, 0-2.

    College field hockey

    • No. 16 Bowdoin beat Conn College 1-0 in a NESCAC game. Liz Winemaster made 13 saves for the Camels (1-3, 0-2).
