    Local roundup: Unbeaten Conn College tops No. 22 Amherst in men’s soccer

    New London — The Connecticut College men’s soccer team remained unbeaten with a 3-2 win over No. 22 Amherst in a New England Small College Athletic Conference soccer match on Tuesday.

    Max Haberman’s goal in the 89th minute broke a 2-2 tie. Jake Creus had a goal and assisted on the other two, Nate Pilson had a goal and an assist and Peter Silvester made three saves for the Camels (7-0-2, 3-0-2).

    Ada Okorogheye scored twice for Amherst (7-2-1, 4-1-1).

    H.S. boys’ soccer

    • Lewis Hawkins III scored twice as Norwich Free Academy beat Fitch 4-1 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I game. John Lopez had a goal and two assists and Jaden Perkins scored a goal for the Wildcats (5-3, 1-1). Felipe Dantas scored for Fitch (1-4-2, 0-2).

    • Owen Christiansen scored with 1:08 left in overtime as Lyman Memorial beat Bacon Academy 3-2. Lukas Hazard and Nick Zaprianov scored goals, James Hiltz made 18 saves and Cody Rahrmann had an assist for the Bulldogs (4-4). Eddie Hageman and Colby Butterfield (penalty kick) scored for Bacon (2-4).

    • Luke Brannegan scored three goals as St. Bernard remained unbeaten in ECC Division IV play with a 6-0 win over Tourtellotte. Ben Syphrett scored twice, Jose Pacheco had two assists and Alex Graul scored for the Saints (6-2, 5-0).

    • Ben Crowe scored twice as unbeaten Ledyard beat Killingly 6-1. Peyton Luther had a goal and an assist and Sebby Fieldsend had an assist for the Colonels (7-0).

    • Harrison Avery scored two goals as Wheeler beat Putnam 5-1 in an ECC Division IV game. Jack Dowrey and Wyatt Hayes had a goal and an assist each, Brodey Pappas scored and Will Raggon had an assist for the Lions (5-3, 4-1).

    • New London fell to Windham 2-1. Yovani Duenas Sánchez scored for New London (6-3) and Kendry Realpe Hurtado had an assist.

    • Grasso Tech and Cheney Tech played to a 3-3 draw in the Connecticut Technical Conference on Monday. The Eagles (2-4-1, 2-2-1) trailed 3-1 before back-to-back goals by Christian Ramirez and Luca Iglesias pulled Grasso even in the second half. Iglesias also scored in the first half for the Eagles and Lucas Rode had two assists.

    H.S. field hockey

    • East Lyme remained unbeaten in the ECC with a 4-0 win over Waterford. Gracie Lloyd had a goal and an assist, Violet Maziarz, Kate Erikson and Callan Keefe scored goals and Lily Gibson had an assist for the Vikings (5-1-1, 5-0-1). Waterford is 4-4, 3-3.

    • Izzy Ash had a goal and two assists as Fitch beat Woodstock 3-0 in an ECC game. Riley Harrington and Charlotte Driscoll scored goals and Esme Carlebach made two saves for the Falcons (5-3, 4-2).

    • Nora Walsh scored three goals to highlight Stonington’s 8-0 win over Killingly in the ECC. Olivia Duhig added two goals for the Bears (5-1-1, 5-0-1) while Brianna Plew and Anna Lettiere each had a goal and two assists, Charlotte Cornell scored a goal and Paige Goebel had an assist.

    H.S. girls’ soccer

    • Grasso Tech lost to HMTCA 6-2 in a CTC game. Natalie Smith and Danielle Sands scored for the Eagles (3-4, 3-4).

    • Avery Bouchey scored three goals as Montville defeated New London 7-0 on Monday night. Nicole Hudson added three assists for the Wolves (4-4-1) while Jada Chueng had a goal and two assists, Allie Kondash had one goal and one assist, and Sydney Cook and Sienna Gressly eached scored a goal. Italia Salls made 21 saves for the Whalers (1-6).

    H.S. volleyball

    • Coventry beat Griswold 3-1 in a nonleague match. Coventry won 16-25, 25-23, 25-22, 27-25. Abby Matheson had 15 kills and 22 digs, Kierra Neilson had six kills, four blocks and 11 digs and Ruby Logan had 20 digs for the Wolverines (5-5).

    • Montville improved to 8-2 with a 25-22, 25-12 and 25-12 win over Windham on Monday night. Zoie Farrar had eight kills and 10 digs while Mackenzie Payne added 21 assists for the Wolves.

    College field hockey

    • Demi Janis scored with 55 seconds left in regulation as No. 24 Trinity beat Conn College 4-3 in a NESCAC game. Kendall Arnold scored twice, Sydney Cresta had a goal, Bridget McGann and Rowan Galanis had assists and Liz Winemaster made four saves for the Camels (2-6, 0-5).

    Local golf

    • The Great Neck Country Club Men’s Invitational is Sunday, Oct. 15 with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $90 per player. Awards for low gross and low net and players must have a valid handicap index. Golfers can compete individually, in a twosome, threesome or foursome.
