    Local roundup: Conn College falls in Div. III men’s soccer Elite Eight 1-0

    Fredericksburg, Va. – Connecticut College came up one win short of returning to the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer tournament Final Four.

    The Camels (12-2-7), the 2021 tourney champs, lost to No. 18 Washington College of Maryland 1-0 in the Elite Eight on Sunday.

    Washington College (14-2-6) scored with 15 minutes left in the first half when Chris Comber knocked in a rebound. Conn goalie Peter Silvester made five saves.

    Matt Scoffone, Jack Kelesoglu, Nate Pilson, Elliot Spatz and Maurice Pigola each had a shot on goal for Conn, which outshot Washington 12-10 overall. But the Shoremen held a 6-5 edge on shots on goal and a 7-6 advantage on corner kicks.

    Men’s basketball

    • Avery Point lost to Albany Pharmacy 75-52. Mystic’s Michael Wagner scored 15 points and Jeff Souvenance of Griswold had six points and eight rebounds for the Pointers (0-6).

    Women’s basketball

    • Mitchell College lost to Emerson 103-69 in the consolation game of the UMass Dartmouth tournament. Yasmine Santos had 26 points and 12 rebounds, Jermia Dumas had 12 points and Lyliana Daly scored 11 for the Mariners (1-2).

    Men’s hockey

    • No. 3 Boston College beat UConn 3-0 in a Hockey East game on Saturday night. The Huskies are 5-8-1, 3-5.

    H.S. football

    • All tickets must be purchased at the gates on Thanksgiving Day morning for the Fitch at Ledyard game at Bill Mignault Field in Ledyard. Ticket gates will open at 8:45 a.m. for the 10 a.m. game. Tickets are $10 for all spectators, adults, senior citizens and students and are cash only sales. Tickets will not be available on Go Fan and we are not selling tickets in advance at either school.
