Sold out. That’s the norm these days at Gampel Pavilion, where the 11th-ranked UConn women’s basketball team will meet St. John’s at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The Huskies (18-4 overall, 10-0 in the Big East Conference) will play in front of their third straight full house on campus, with a fourth on the way Feb. 16 for Senior Night.

UConn is hoping for a better outcome against St. John’s (14-9, 8-3) than it had for its last outing at Gampel, an 82-67 loss to Notre Dame on Jan. 27 in which Hannah Hidalgo, a freshman for the Irish, quieted the normally boisterous crowd with 34 points.

The Huskies rebounded from that loss Wednesday with an 81-60 victory at Villanova, outscoring the Wildcats 44-24 in the second half for what was UConn’s most productive half of the week.

Aaliyah Edwards had 22 points and seven rebounds for the Huskies against Villanova and Paige Bueckers had 21 points. Nika Muhl finished with 12 points and 10 assists.

UConn is led by Bueckers with 20 points per game and Edwards with 17 points and 8.4 rebounds. Unique Drake leads St. John’s with 18.7 points per game. The Huskies beat St. John’s on Jan. 13 in New York 92-49, getting 22 points from Bueckers.

Sunday’s game is UConn’s Play4Kay game to benefit breast cancer awareness. The Huskies will wear their pink jerseys and shoes. The UConn women’s basketball players have partnered with the NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) Store to sell replica jerseys from the game, donating a portion of their earnings to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
