    H.S. softball roundup: Cosmopoulos, Falcons outslug Wildcats, 9-8

    Norwich — Grace Cosmopoulos homered and had two other hits Wednesday as the Fitch High School softball team edged Norwich Free Academy 9-8 in Division I of the Eastern Connecticut Conference.

    Cosmopoulos finished with four RBI, while Jaedyn Steffens was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Marin Lyon added a double for Fitch (2-2, 1-1). Melina Graziano and Melainey Tackling had three hits apiece for NFA (3-3, 1-1).

    In other games:

    • Southington, ranked fourth in the GameCT Top 10 state poll, rallied with six runs in the fifth and six innings in the rain to post a 12-7 win over Waterford. Paige Jessuck had three hits and an RBI and Emilia Podeszwa had two hits, including a two-run home run for the Lancers (6-2).

    • Faith Dalton and Maegan Miller had three hits apiece and Ledyard edged Bacon Academy 5-4 in an eight-inning, ECC Division II game. Lexi Lemmon struck out nine for the Colonels (3-2, 2-0) and Aleecia Helme drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth with a double.

    • Karly Sorrentino hit a two-run home run and Grace DuBrava had three hits and six RBI to lead East Lyme to a 19-0 win over Woodstock Academy in ECC Division I. Ava Kelly and Abby Robinson added two doubles each and Robinson struck out 10 for East Lyme (3-3, 1-2).

    • Killingly scored five runs in the first inning and defeated New London 13-1 in ECC Division III. Alanna Noonan had two hits for the Whalers (1-4, 0-3).

    • Wheeler defeated Windham 14-1 in an ECC Division IV game shortened to five innings. Abby Butremovic drove in three runs and Chloe Sanders had two hits for the Lions (3-1, 2-0).
