    Local roundup: Wolves edge Saints to remain unbeaten in boys’ tennis

    Montville — Jack Bowman and Ryan Hochdorfer, Adam Gallagher and Zack Thomas and Gabe Vogt and Brishen Wu won their doubles matches Wednesday and the Montville High School boys’ tennis team edged St. Bernard/Wheeler 4-3 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III match. The Wolves are 4-0, 2-0.

    Wyatt Hayes, Sam Cunningham and Zachary Kobyluck won in singles for St. Bernard (2-1, 1-1).

    In other matches:

    • Christos Matsas won No. 1 singles and Waterford defeated Killingly 7-0. Ian Balfour, Quinn LeBelle and Colton Murch also won in singles for the Lancers (3-1).

    • East Lyme defeated Ledyard 7-0, getting singles wins from Jiarui Peng, Ajay Rana, Kenny Zheng and Sid Jain. East Lyme is 2-1 overall, Ledyard 3-2.

    • Tucker Callahan, Brady O’Neil, Matthew Turrisi and Peter Schoenecker earned singles wins to lift Stonington to a 7-0 victory over Norwich Free Academy. Stonington remains unbeaten at 5-0. NFA is 0-5.

    • Old Lyme remained unbeaten with a 5-2 win over Morgan. Andy Sicuranza, Micah Bass and Leland Hine won in singles for the Wildcats (4-0).

    • Niko Curtis and Sergio Garcia won in singles and New London defeated Lyman Memorial 5-2 in ECC Division III. Alex Churis-Jhandel Marichal, Jamal Charles-Jayden Gomez and Kaleb McCalla-Kevin Tenesaca won in doubles for New London (1-1, 1-1). Luke Spellman and Colin Fonseca won in singles for Lyman (0-4, 0-3).

    • Emilia Leeming and Annie ShayIn won their singles matches in Williams’ 4-3 loss to Country School. Sadie Rotolo and Will Corkhill won in doubles for Williams.

    H.S. girls’ tennis

    • Stonington defeated East Lyme 7-0 in ECC Division I. Grace Duggan, Marcella Hamm, Misha Lewandowski and Marina Lewandowski won in singles for the Bears (3-0, 1-0).

    • Old Lyme won its 73rd straight match, 7-0 over Morgan in the Shoreline Conference. Elaina Morosky, Katherine Zhang, Emma Arelt and Rose Dimmock won in singles for the Wildcats (7-0, 7-0).

    • NFA defeated Montville 5-2 behind singles wins from Leeya Fabry and Talia Gonzalez. The Wildcats (3-1) also got doubles wins from Peyton Welch-Cathleen Mai, Abby Limanni-Mackenzie Meyer and Cici Laguerre-Christall Ake. Allie Kondash and Jess Hochdorfer won in singles for Montville (1-1).

    H.S. boys’ lacrosse

    • Aiden Patterson scored five goals to lead East Lyme to a 17-2 win over Waterford in an ECC Division I game on Tuesday night. Drew Sager had three goals and three assists, Jack Campbell had three goals and two assists and Gabe Hanney had three goals and an assist for the Vikings (3-1, 3-0). Avery Bonewicz had a goal and an assist for the Lancers (2-3, 1-2).

    • Henry Champagne and Brendan Li scored three goals each as Williams School remained unbeaten with an 8-5 win over Forman on Monday. Tyler Gagliardi had two assists, Henry Gallagher made 10 saves and Champagne (nine) and Li combined for 17 ground balls for the Blues (5-0).

    H.S. girls’ lacrosse

    • Lily Poletto had four goals and two assists as East Lyme beat Fitch 10-8 in an ECC Division I game on Tuesday night. Jessica Knapp had two goals and two assists, Gianna DiLoreto had two goals and an assist, Brielle Rheaume made seven saves and Riddhi Venkatesh had three assists, four draw controls and six ground balls for the Vikings (3-2, 2-0). Bethany Lovering scored four goals and Gabby Dimock had 10 draw controls for Fitch (3-2, 1-1).

    H.S. boys’ golf

    • North Branford beat Old Lyme 188-212 in a Shoreline Conference match on Tuesday. Manu Geronimo and Sam Edmed had 49s for the Wildcats (0-2, 0-2).

    H.S. girls’ golf

    • East Lyme defeated Stonington 226-239 in an ECC match at Old Lyme Country Club. Medalist Mia Williamson had a 53 for the Vikings (1-1). Adilyn Risley shot 57 for the Bears (1-1).

    • NFA beat Hand 207-214 in a nonleague match on Tuesday. Caroline Goderre of NFA (2-0) was the medalist with a 42.

    H.S. baseball

    • Yankee de la Cruz-Nieves drove had three two-run doubles to lead Grasso Tech to a 13-3 win over Tourtellotte on Tuesday. The Eagles (4-2) scored seven runs in the fourth inning, including a two-run double by Jace Oddo, an RBI single by Raymer Guzman, a bases-load walk to Jerry Santiago and de la Cruz-Nieves’ third two-run double of the game.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Tyler McDermott had eight kills, four blocks and five digs as Norwich Free Academy defeated Norwich Tech 25-12, 25-8, 25-23. NFA is 7-1. Mason Matthews had nine digs for Norwich Tech (2-5).

    College baseball

    • Adam Vartanian’s walkoff single into left field, lifting Mitchell College past Keene State 8-7. The Mariners rallied from a 7-6 deficit in the ninth. Vartanian finished with four hits and Owen Robbins of East Lyme drove in two runs. Mitchell is 21-8.

    Women’s lacrosse

    • Caitlyn Coates scored six goals and Coast Guard defeated Wellesley 23-3. Kira Howard and Laine Weber had three goals apiece for the Bears.
