    H.S. roundup: Ledyard tops Stonington in softball

    Stonington — Ledyard capitalized on errors and Faith Dalton delivered a two-run single in the fifth inning in a 4-3 win over Stonington in a softball game on Monday.

    Mia Starling went 3 for 4 and Braylyn Johnson added two hits for the Colonels (8-3). Lexi Lemmon earned the win, striking out nine and walking one.

    Cami Brown had her 100th career hit and finished with two hits for the Bears (10-2). Sophia Dutra had two doubles and Chloe Miner was 2 for 3.

    In other games:

    • East Lyme rolled past Wheeler, 12-0, in a game that went six innings. Abby Robinson tossed a no-hitter, striking out 13, for the Vikings (8-4), who broke the game open with eight runs in the second. Grace DuBrava had two singles and two doubles and Avery Stadler added two singles, a double and six RBI. The Lions fell to 6-2.

    • Katie McPherson had three hits, including a home run, and four RBI to power Fitch past Killingly, 11-2. Winning pitcher Hailey Merrill struck out 10 and had three hits and two RBI and Zoe Cosmopoulos added a hit and two RBI for the Falcons (4-4).

    • Griswold scored four runs in the first inning to take the lead for good on the way to a 13-8 win over Lyman Memorial. Bella Bruno had a single, double and three RBI for the Wolverines (9-3) while Kierra Neilson went 2 for 2 with three walks and two RBI and Katherine Greene added a double. Rachel Cone had two singles, a triple and three RBI for the Bulldogs (1-9) and Loretta Svedarsky and Lena-Maria Byers each added two hits and two RBI.

    • Emma Bayor pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and striking out 14, and also went 3 for 4 at the plate, scored two runs and drove in two in Old Lyme’s 13-1 win over Coginchaug in the Shoreline Conference. Ava Roth had a triple and two doubles while Sybil Neary had a three-run home run, two singles and four RBI and Kaylyn Vernan with 3 for 5 for the Wildcats (9-1, 7-0).

    • Morgan Cook had four hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs to help lift Norwich Tech past Windham Tech, 25-20. Nani Garcia chipped in three hits and three RBI for the Warriors (4-7) and Evelyn Brimmer had four hits and two RBI and Autumn Hanks added a double, triple and five RBI.

    Baseball

    • Waterford scored two runs in the first inning to seize the lead and went on to beat South Kingstown (R.I.), 7-1, in a non-conference game. Caleb Turner earned the win, allowing a run and three hits in five innings, while Matt Shampine went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and RBI, Zaydin Martinez had two hits and Zach Ruest doubled and drove in two runs for the Lancers (9-3).

    • Kade Rubino went 3 for 4 and drove in two runs, as Griswold beat Putnam, 5-3. Colin Mitchell knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly and Sean Garvin earned the win for the Wolverines (9-4).

    • Aidan Carpentino drove in Old Lyme’s only run with a sacrifice fly in a 5-1 Shoreline Conference loss to Coginchaug. Rowen Meisner and Giovanni Winters each had a hit for the Wildcats (5-6, 5-5).

    Girls’ lacrosse

    • Malahika Paulo scored six goals in New London/St. Bernard’s 14-12 loss to Woodstock Academy. Keshvi Patel had four goals and Catherine Hannaford made 25 saves.

    • Sophia Gouveia scored nine goals and Grace Cassata added four in Wheeler’s 14-7 win over Griswold-Norwich Tech in Division III. Ellen Anderson also scored for the Lions (5-3, 4-0) and Anna Barber made 11 saves. Griswold is 2-7, 0-4.

    • Gabby Dimock had six goals, two assists and five caused turnovers, leading Fitch past Norwich Free Academy, 12-6, in Division I. Bethany Lovering had five goals and three caused turnovers and goalie Elaina Brookhart made seven saves for the Falcons (6-2, 3-1). Molly Page had three goals and an assist and Alex Tabilas added two goals and two assists for the Wildcats (6-3, 1-3).

    • Montville dropped a 10-9 overtime decision to Killingly. Kylie Spreng led the Wolves (3-4) with six goals and an assist while Bella Estelle, Anna Bubucis and Savannah Vichas added one goal apiece and Katie Koning made 15 saves.

    Boys’ lacrosse

    • Ethan Mahoney contributed three goals and an assist as Stonington defeated Westerly, 9-4. Nathan Mahoney had two goals and Cooper Light had a goal and an assist and also won 10 of 12 faceoffs. Tyler Simao, Maclan Griscom and Kyle Olsson had a goal and an assist apiece for the Bears (6-4).

    • Williams School lost to Hamden Hall 14-7. Finn McCann had three goals and Henry Champagne scored twice for the Blues (8-2). Tyler Gagliardi and Brendan Li had a goal and an assist each, Baker Katko had two assists and Marc Macera had an assist for Williams.

    Boys’ golf

    • Luca Iglesiad earned medalist honors with a 40, leading Grasso Tech past Windham Tech, 181-201, at Pequot Golf Course. The Eagles are 4-7.

    • Geronimo fired a team-best 47 for Old Lyme in a 160-214 loss to Haddam-Killingworth in a Shoreline Conference match at Lyman Orchards. Medalist Declan Kessler had a 37 for Haddam.
