H.S. tennis: Montville boys remain unbeaten in ECC Div. III play
Montville — Montville remained unbeaten in Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III boys’ tennis action with a 5-2 win over Lyman Memorial on Monday.
Benny Wu, Danny Zhang and Darren Chen, Montville’s top three singles players, posted straight set victories for the Wolves (8-2, 4-0).
The No. 1 doubles duo of Jack Bowman and Ryan Hochdorfer got Montville off to a good start with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
Matthew Stotts won his No. 4 singles match in three sets for the Bulldogs (1-8, 0-4).
In other matches:
• Waterford improved to 7-2 overall with a 6-1 win over Woodstock Academy. Ian Balfour, Quinn LeBelle and Louis Dhervilly were victorious in singles action and the No. 1 duo of Christos Matsas and Colton Murch led a doubles sweep for the Lancers.
On Friday, Waterford defeated East Lyme, 4-3. The Lancers swept all three doubles matches with Adam Balfour-Jayden Campisi, Andrew Bertrand-Arthur Dhervilly and Ethan Wang-Justin Wang winning.
• Stonington blanked Ledyard, 7-0, receiving straight set singles wins from Brady O’Neil, Matthew Turrisi, Peter Schoenckerv and Thomas Lyon. The Bears are 10-0, and the Colonels 5-4.
• Jonathan Patton, Emilia Leeming and Emily Smith won their singles matches for Williams School in a 4-2 victory over Oxford Academy. Anna Milne and Will Corkhill combined to earn a point at No. 2 doubles for the Blues (2-2-1).
