A Nightshade Productions & Prowler Publishing presentation of "Scratch" will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the new Monte Cristo Book Shop, 38 Greene St., New London.

As a part of Monte Cristo's ongoing authors' series, actors and dancers will present a chapter of Nick Checker's Kindle novel.

Actors Brian Ellsworth, Beverly "Victoria" Hayes, and Malcolm Cameron will perform the vocal aspects of the story segment, while dancers Sharyn Farrell and Lisa Collins will perform an abstract dance that conveys the story through dramatic imagery. Dance aspects were designed by Christine Poland, who choreographed the last two Coast Guard Academy musicals.
