I always figured that comic Kathleen Madigan was from Boston. There’s something about her bemused tone, sharp wit and slightly Affleckian accent that made me think: Of course. Beantown.

But she’s actually from Missouri. Maybe that’s why her comedy — for which her family provides endless fodder — tends to have a real current of affection. I also love the online videos of her talking to her cat, who seems perpetually disinterested.

The bottom line is, Madigan is one of the best comedians out there. Which the public clearly knows, because her Friday show at Foxwoods was all but sold out when I last looked at ticket availability.

Extra points to Madigan for coming up with creative names for her tours. This one? “Boxed Wine & Tiny Banjos Tour.”
