Jimmy Buffett’s music is the soundtrack to summer, so it’s perfectly timely that the Chestnut Street Playhouse in Norwich is staging a show featuring every Parrothead’s favorite songs.

The musical “Escape to Margaritaville,” which runs from Thursday through July 30 at the Chestnut Street Playhouse, opened on Broadway in 2018.

Its story finds a bartender/singer becoming enamored with a tourist. And, according to the Chestnut Street Playhouse, it’s also about “a group of (mostly) hard working people who love deeply, fight for what they believe in, and value their friendships above all.”

The score is populated by pretty much all of Buffett’s most popular tunes, including “Margaritaville,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” and “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.”

The show is directed by Marla Ladd, with musical direction by Shiloh Vournazos and choreography by Mary Lauren. The cast includes Matt Danieluk, Elizabeth Fox, Paige Costigan Drew Goins, Tiara Waters, Preston Arnold, Maximus Barach Bouilly, Craig Blake, Laura Barile, Sky Buchan, Megan Chestna, Trevor Howard, Morgan Hrymack, and Liz Wilcox.

    “Margaritaville,” Thursday-30, Chestnut Street Playhouse, 24 Chestnut St., Norwich; 7:30 p.m. Thurs.-Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun.; $29.95 for adults, $26.96 for students and seniors; (860) 886-2378, chestnutstreetplayhouse.org.
