The Kate welcomes Best of Boston Comedy

Are Boston area comics so funny in part because they say their one-liners with a Bahstan accent?

Sure, but it also seems that Massachusetts stand-up comedians just tend to be damned funny.

See how this group of reps fare when the Best of Boston Comedy Festival comes to the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook.

The Friday show is scheduled to include:

-Jim McCue, whose DryBar special “Nothing Personal” has had over 4 million viewers

-Caroline Cook, who jokes about the absurd nature of our society and daily lives. She was featured in the Wittiest Women Showcase at the 2021 Burbank Comedy Festival.

-Hosting is Tony V, who became the first comedian in history to perform at Fenway Park, when he was opening for Bill Burr last year.

The Sunday show, hosted by McCue, will feature:

-Rhonda Corey, who won the 2018 national Clean Comedy Challenge, held in Chicago.

-Casey Crawford, who says he tells "short jokes loosely based on his dumb life."

-Max Dolcelli, who has opened for everyone from Jerry Seinfeld to Robin Williams.

Best of Boston Comedy Festival, 8 p.m. Fri. and 7 p.m. Sun., Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, Main Street, Old Saybrook; $34.
