Flock Theatre had planned to stage a new adaptation of “Jane Eyre” inside the intimate confines of the Shaw Mansion in New London in 2020.

Ah, 2020. You can guess what happened.

The pandemic put a stop to all live shows, so Flock pivoted and created a Zoom film of this “Jane Eyre” instead.

Now Flock is finally going to get the chance to bring a live production of “Jane Eyre” to the Shaw Mansion. It will be performed there starting Friday.

Julie Butters, who had adapted “Little Women” for Flock in 2011, did the honors again by transforming Charlotte Bronte’s “Jane Eyre” for the stage.

She also stars as Jane, and Eric Michaelian portrays Mr. Rochester. Flock’s Victor Chiburis directs this gothic romance, which is set in early-1800s England. Jane Eyre becomes a governess to the ward of a mysterious man named Mr. Rochester. Jane, who was orphaned as a child, is happy with what she sees as the home and love she has long wanted. But what about Mr. Rochester’s secrets?

“Jane Eyre,” Fri.-May 26, Shaw Mansion, 11 Blinman St., New London; 7 p.m. Fri. and Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun.; tickets $40; limited seating available, tickets required; general admission; flocktheatre.org/janeeyre.
