The summer season at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford kicks off with the National Puppetry Conference.

Over the course of a dozen days, puppeteers come to the O’Neill to teach and to learn about all aspects of puppetry. As the O’Neill states, “participants gather from across the globe to create works that defy the bounds of contemporary theater and the imagination.”

The conference is under the leadership of National Puppetry Conference Director Pam Arciero.

Members of the public can virtually view some of the conference master classes.

And they can watch the final Puppetry Performances on Friday and Saturday that bring together the wildly creative and wildly diverse works of the conference’s guest artists and artists-in-residence.

Puppetry Performances, 7 p.m. Fri. and Sat., Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, 305 Great Neck Road, Waterford; $33; theoneill.org, (860) 443-5378.
