    ATV rider attacks Willimantic resident

Willimantic (AP) — Willimantic police are asking for the public's help in identifying an all-terrain vehicle rider who assaulted a local resident over the weekend.

Police say the rider "clotheslined" the resident on Southbridge Drive on Saturday evening, when the resident confronted four ATV riders who were speeding around the neighborhood and tearing up a neighbor's lawn.

Officers say one of the riders stuck out his arm and knocked down the victim, who was treated at Windham Hospital and released. The four riders sped off and haven't been found.

Police said the rider who assaulted the victim was wearing a helmet and driving a four-wheeled, black and orange ATV.

Anyone with information is urged to call Willimantic police.
