Connecticut unemployment rate remains at 8 percent
Wethersfield (AP) — State labor officials say Connecticut gained a net 2,600 jobs in March after large job loss in February, but the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 8 percent.
The Department of Labor released new figures Thursday showing the state's job market rebounded after a loss of 5,700 jobs in February.
The Labor Department's research director, Andy Condon, says the data from March show the steep job decline in February was related to a storm that dumped up to 3 feet of snow and disrupted business and transportation.
The education and health services sector had the most job gains in March with 3,600. The trade, transportation and utilities sector had the largest job decline with 2,600.
The state's unemployment rate remained higher than the national rate of 7.6 percent.
