Hartford – A bill that aims to improve the dialogue between citizens and the state's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was passed by the House, 129-6, on Friday.
Senate Bill 1012 would loosen the permitting process for repairs of shoreline structures and empower residents and businesses to better protect their property from storms.
"It is a good thing when our agencies take steps to become more user friendly," state Rep. John Shaban, R-Redding, said.
The bipartisan bill already was passed by the Senate and now will be sent to the governor.
