Hillary Rodham Clinton, former Secretary of State and former U.S. Senator from New York, will deliver keynote remarks at UConn's 2014 Edmund Fusco Contemporary Issues Forum in April, according to a release from the university.

The forum is designed to bring scholars and leaders to the University of Connecticut.

Clinton's remarks, which will be followed by a Q and A session, will be open to faculty, students and staff. The forum will take place at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on the Storrs campus on April 23. This will be the first time Clinton has visited UConn, according to the release.

"We're thrilled to welcome Secretary Clinton to our campus," UConn President Susan Herbst said in a statement. "I know the entire University community is excited about this event."

Clinton served as the 67th U.S. Secretary of State from 2009 until 2013. Earlier, as First Lady during the tenure of her husband, President Bill Clinton, and as Senator from New York, she traveled to more than 80 countries. She campaigned as a candidate for the Democratic nomination for president in 2008.
