Foley to announce decision on 2014 governor's race

Waterbury (AP) — Republican Tom Foley is expected to announce whether he's making another run for Connecticut governor.

The Greenwich businessman and former U.S. ambassador to Ireland says he'll disclose his plans Wednesday afternoon at a VFW post in Waterbury.

Foley was the GOP nominee for governor in 2010 when he narrowly lost to Democrat Dannel P. Malloy. Foley spent more than $10 million of his own money on his losing bid.

His running mate from 2010, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, has already joined the field of Republican candidates that also includes state Senate Minority Leader John McKinney.

Malloy has yet to announce whether he will seek a second term.
