Connecticut forecast: It’s going to snow Wednesday. Here’s what to expect

It’s going to snow Wednesday in Connecticut, meteorologists say.

    How much snow will fall?

Generally, 1-2 inches will fall around the state, with less at the shore, says Torry Gaucher, a National Weather Service meteorologist. Urbans areas like Hartford should get closer to an inch.

“It’s not a blockbuster snowstorm by any means,” he says. “For many people, this will be the first snowfall of the season.”

    When will the snow fall?

The snow will fall during the evening commute, roughly between 5 and 7 p.m.

“So while it’s not a significant amount of snow, it will fall during the ride home,” Gaucher says. Drivers should watch for slick spots and give themselves extra time.

Still, no need to rush to the grocery stores and hoard food, Gaucher says. It’s “definitely not a bread and milk situation.”

    What about Thursday morning’s commute?

    Take it slow, he says.

Thursday morning’s temperature will be in the low 20s, so “any wet surface will become icy.”

    What does Tuesday look like?

Tuesday’s temperature in the Hartford area will be in the upper 30s to about 40. Light winds will make it feel like the upper 20s and 30s, Gaucher says.

Is winter weather here for good?

Not necessarily. Saturday’s temperature will reach the upper 50s and “could even touch 60,” he says.
