    Man dies in house fire in Colchester

    A man died in a house fire in Colchester late Monday night, according to the fire officials.

    The Colchester Hayward Fire Department along with the Glastonbury Company 3 FAST and Medic 3 from Marlborough Clinic responded to a call on Cato Corner Road for a house fire at 11:01 p.m. Firefighters were told that a person was still inside the home, according to fire officials.

    While performing a primary search, heavy smoke filled the living room and the person trapped inside, an unresponsive male in his 60s, was located at 11:31 p.m., fire officials said. The man was removed through a front window and pronounced dead at the scene.

    LifeStar was requested for the victim but was canceled before landing, according to fire officials.

    The Colchester Fire Marshal and the Connecticut Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit are investigating the incident.
