One person was taken to the hospital early Monday after being rescued from an apartment fire in Hartford.

Firefighters were called to an apartment building on Charter Oak Place at about 5 a.m., finding a unit on the top floor of the five-story complex was on fire in the rear of the building. Firefighters said they had to drag one person out of the burning unit.

The victim was taken to Hartford Hospital. No information on the person’s condition was immediately available.

Firefighters said they contained the blaze to the unit of origin and had it under control within a few minutes. The unit below sustained minor water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
