Police investigating fatal stabbing following Christmas Day party in Stamford

Police are investigating a fatal stabbing after a fight broke out at a party on Christmas Day.

Stamford police learned of the stabbing at 3:30 a.m. when they responded to Stamford Hospital on the report of a victim with stab wounds being dropped off at the Emergency Room by multiple unidentified individuals, according to the Stamford Police Department. The 32-year-old underwent emergency surgery and died later in the morning in the Intensive Care Unit, police said.

The victim has not been identified.

Shortly after 3:50 a.m., Stamford police said patrol officers spotted a man “walking recklessly downtown” in the road on Broad Street. The man was stopped and identified as 22-year-old Beimar Araujo-Ramirez, who was found to have a connection to the stabbing victim, according to police.

Investigators learned that Araujo-Ramirez had attended a party at a Crystal Street residence along with the homicide victim, police said. A fight broke out outside of the residence, after which Araujo-Ramirez and others took the stabbing victim to the hospital, according to police.

Arouja-Ramirez was arrested by Stamford Major Crime investigators on one count of disorderly conduct “in relation to his actions towards the two hosts of the party, who were tenants at the residence,” Stamford police Capt. Tom Scanlon said in a statement Tuesday.

Scanlon said the circumstances surrounding the fight and the injuries that led to the man’s death are still being investigated.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Sgt. William Garay of The Major Crimes Unit at (203) 977-4417. Information can be left anonymously by sending a text message to Tip411.
