Montville resident wins $1.5 million with scratch-off lottery ticket

One Connecticut Lottery customer is closing out the month of February as a millionaire.

A resident of the village of Oakdale, located in Montville, claimed a $1.5 million prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket on Thursday, according to Connecticut Lottery.

The winner purchased the 2,000,000 Mega Multiplier ticket at Bestway Oakdale Corp. gas station in Montville and beat the 1-in-9,000,000 odds of securing the top prize.

Players win the scratch-off game by matching any of their numbers to the winning numbers, and their prize is shown below the matching numbers. They reveal a multiplier symbol and can win up to 200 times their prize amount.

Prizes range from $20 to $2,000,000. Winners of the top prize can receive the $2,000,000 in increments over 20 years or secure a one-time gross cash option of $1,500,000.

As of Friday, three people have won the top prize in the scratch-off game and two are still unclaimed.

Other unclaimed prizes include a $25,000 Keno ticket that was purchased in Wallingford and drawn Feb. 9, according to Connecticut Lottery. A winning $100,000 Cash5 ticket, which was drawn Jan. 15 and bought in Cromwell, also remains unclaimed as of Sunday.
