Woman found with fentanyl, cocaine packaged for sale during traffic stop, Plainfield police say

A Griswold woman was arrested in Plainfield on Friday after police say they found more than a hundred wax folds containing suspected fentanyl in her car during a traffic stop.

Heather Watson, 31, was arrested around 10 a.m. after officers spotted her car leaving a local hotel where they were conducting surveillance for narcotic activity, police said.

Watson drove away from the hotel at a high rate of speed, and initially failed to stop when officers activated their lights and sirens, according to police. She eventually stopped on Lathrop Road, and was found to be driving with a suspended license, police said.

A narcotic detection K-9 was brought to the scene because officers believed illegal narcotic activity was taking place, and the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, police said.

They said officers seized 47 packages of suspected cocaine and 140 wax folds of suspected fentanyl.

Watson is charged with two counts each of possession of controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, and single counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, traveling unreasonably fast, disobeying a signal of an officer and operating a motor vehicle under suspension.

She was released after posting $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Danielson June 11.
