STERLING (AP) — State police in Connecticut say one person has been seriously injured in a single-engine plane crash.
The crash happened Sunday afternoon in Sterling near the Rhode Island state line and involved a single-engine, single-seat Aerolite 103. Police say the pilot, who they didn't identify, suffered severe injuries and burns.
They say the plane had taken off from the Riconn Airport in Coventry, R.I., and had been turning back toward the airfield when it crashed into a wooded area near the airport. The investigation is ongoing.
