Men charged in mail theft scheme involving more than 200 victims

GREENWICH (AP) — Connecticut police say they have arrested two men who stole hundreds of personal checks from more than 200 victims in two states.

Capt. Robert Berry say officers arrested 23-year-old Mark Anthony Claudio and 27-year-old Dondre Waugh last week in Greenwich after a resident reported them removing mail containing checks from her mailbox.

Greenwich police say the suspects, both of New York City, had checks from people living in New York and Connecticut.

The Greenwich Time reports Waugh and Claudio were each charged with 358 counts of criminal attempt at identity theft, conspiracy at identity theft and larceny.

Both are being held on $250,000 bond. A message was left with Claudio's public defender. No attorney was listed for Waugh.
