Police: Mass. mayoral candidate egged neighbor's home

QUINCY, Mass. (AP) — A mayoral candidate in a Boston suburb was summoned to court earlier this year after police say she threw eggs at a neighbor's home.

The Patriot Ledger reports that according to court records, Brenda Ryan was charged with defacing property and is due back in court in December.

Ryan, an author and researcher making her first run for elected office, is challenging incumbent Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch in next week's election.

Ryan told the newspaper the charge is just an "accusation" before declining further comment.

Police began investigating in April after the owner of a home said someone threw eggs at the house while a tenant was inside.

Ryan would not disclose to police why she did it.

Police responded to a similar incident in May, but no one was charged.
