CVS Health, one of two major pharmacy chains administering the COVID-19 vaccine in Connecticut, said Tuesday it will add a dozen more locations next week.

The pharmacy locations will include Avon, Bristol, Coventry, Glastonbury, Guilford, Hamden, North Haven and Uncasville. The rest of the towns and cities were not immediately available Tuesday.

The list of specific stores will be available on CVS.com as stores receive shipments of vaccine and appointments become available, CVS said.

Last week, CVS opened its first pharmacy-based vaccination sites in Putnam and Waterford.

Appointments for those eligible to receive the vaccination will begin Feb. 11 at the pharmacies. Booking an appointment will begin as early as Feb. 9, as stores receive shipments of the vaccine.

CVS said supply for the limited rollout, which is being sourced directly from the federal pharmacy partnership program, will be about 6,800 doses.

“One of our greatest strengths as a company is our presence in communities across the country, which makes us an ideal partner for administering vaccines in a safe, convenient and familiar manner,” Karen S. Lynch, CVS president and chief executive, said, in a release.

Vaccines will be available to individuals who meet the state eligibility requirements, which will be confirmed by the state in advance. Patients must register in advance at CVS.com, on the CVS app or by calling 800-746-7287.
