TV tip: "Jon Brion Show" with Elliott Smith

Hard to believe but, in October, the great Elliot Smith will have been dead 10 years. Appropriately, my pal Ted Mann, an ex-Day writer and fellow-Smith-nut, let me know that this video has surfaced. Unsuccessfully pitched to the VH1 network as a musical variety show starring wunderkind producer/songwriter Brion, the pilot episode featured amazing interplay between the host and guest Elliot Smith on a variety of original tunes and beautifully chosen cover songs. Just google Jon Brion/Elliot Smith and you'll get plenty of hits. Then sit back and enjoy the melancholy pleasure of these two artists at their best.
