Napier headed to the Heat

Shabazz Napier will begin his professional basketball career with the Miami Heat and LeBron James.

Charlotte picked the former UConn point guard at No. 24 in the 2014 NBA Draft tonight and then traded him to Miami for its first round and second round picks and a future second-round pick.

After the trade was announced, James tweeted: “My favorite player in the draft! #Napier.”

Napier helped the Huskies win two national championships during his All-American career. He earned Final Four most valuable player honors last season.

UConn’s DeAndre Daniels has not yet been drafted tonight. He is expected to go sometime in the second round.
