    Wrist injury sidelines UConn's Cochran

Storrs – A wrist injury has sidelined UConn quarterback candidate and New London native Casey Cochran, team sources said Wednesday.

Cochran, who sustained an injury to his left wrist (and non-throwing hand) will undergo surgery later this week.

It is unclear how long Cochran, an incoming freshman, will be sidelined.

Cochran is one of several candidates at starting quarterback this season for the Huskies.

Cochran, once the quarterback at New London High School, helped the Whalers win the 2008 state title. He later transferred to Masuk of Monroe, where he led the Panthers to a state title and was named the 2011 Gatorade Player of the Year.
