    Four-star point guard picks UConn

UConn notched another victory on the men's basketball recruiting trail.

The latest commitment comes from 6-foot, 160-pound point guard James Akinjo, a member of the Class of 2018, according to multiple recruiting sites.

Akinjo made his decision after taking an official visit to UConn last weekend, picking the Huskies over Maryland, Virginia, California and Iowa State. He attends Salesian Prep in Richmond, Calif.

His relationship with UConn coach Kevin Ollie helped make his decision.

"I have a great relationship with coach Ollie and it's the best fit for me," Akinjo told Scout, a recruiting service. "I think I can perform at a high level there."

Akinjo's stock rose while playing on the AAU circuit last summer. He led the Oakland Soldiers to the Peach Jam title and earned most valuable player honors. He's considered a four-star recruit.
