UConn men to play Indiana in Jimmy V Classic at MSG

The UConn men's basketball schedule for the upcoming season is coming together.

The Huskies will travel to their home away from home, Madison Square Garden in New York, on Dec. 10 to play Indiana in the annual Jimmy V Classic. Louisville and Texas Tech will meet in the other game of the nationally-televised doubleheader on ESPN. Game times have yet to be announced.

It will be fourth appearance for both UConn and Indiana in the Jimmy V Classic and 10th meeting overall between the two teams.

The Huskies hold a 6-3 edge in the non-conference series, winning the last meeting, 59-58, on Nov. 22, 2013, in the 2K Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden. They went on to capture the 2014 national championship.

In coach Dan Hurley's first season, UConn finished 16-17 overall, its third straight losing season.

Last season, the Hoosiers went 19-16 overall, 8-12 in the Big Ten. Their season ended with a 73-63 loss to Wichita State, a member of the American Athletic Conference, in the NIT quarterfinals.

Both Louisville and Texas Tech, last year's national runner-up, are projected to be ranked in the preseason top 25. Former UConn center Steven Enoch, who's from Norwalk and played at St. Thomas More, will return for the Cardinals.

Next season, UConn will participate in the 2019 Charleston Classic in South Carolina. The eight-team field for the event, which begins on Nov. 21, also includes Xavier, Florida, Miami, Penn State, Missouri State, Towson and Saint Joseph's.

In other non-conference games, the Huskies will host Florida on Nov. 17 and visit Villanova in Philadelphia on Jan. 18, 2020.
