Huskies to be honored at White House

Storrs (AP) — The University of Connecticut women's basketball team has another date with President Obama at the White House.

The Huskies will be honored during a 2 p.m. ceremony Wednesday for earning the program's eighth national championship in April.

UConn defeated Louisville 93-60 in the April NCAA tournament final to claim the title.

This is the third time President Obama has held a ceremony for the Huskies, who also visited with him following championships in 2009 and 2010. In the past, he has invited team members to play at little basketball with him on the White House court.

The president also plans to honor the team for their public service, a tradition that he has incorporated into his salutes to sports teams.
