UConn women begin three-game tournament with 96-38 rout

Storrs — Stefanie Dolson followed up her first triple-double with a 23-point, 10-rebound performance on Friday as top-ranked UConn routed Boston University 96-38 in the opening round of the Hall of Fame Challenge tournament.

The Huskies, who dressed just seven scholarship players because of injury, had four players in double figures. They used a 34-3 run in the first half to take control of a game that was tied after the first 5 1/2 minutes.

Breanna Stewart led the Huskies with 25 points and added seven rebounds and six assists. Freshman Saniya Chong had 15 points, hitting four of her six shots from 3-point range. Kiah Stokes chipped in 10 points.

Clodagh Scannell topped Boston University (1-4) with nine points.

The tournament continues today in Storrs and Sunday in Hartford. UConn faces Monmouth today — the Hawks are 0-4 after losing the early game Friday to St. Bonaventure.
