O'Neill Theater Center Lease Approved and Signed

Yesterday afternoon, August 17, 2010, the Waterford Board of Selectmen (BOS)approved the renegotiated lease with the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center as approved by the Waterford Representative Town Meeting (RTM) and the Town Attorney. First Selectman Dan Steward signed the lease immediately after the meeting. The RTM had rejected the changes proposed by the BOS when the BOS previously approved the lease agreement. The lease approved by the BOS yesterday did not include the changes proposed by the BOS at a previous meeting.

The O'Neill Theater Center now has a forty year lease, an additional .95 acres of land by Waterford Beach, and a clear road to commence some serious fund raising to pay for their proposed expansion.

In another action, the BOS approved an additional appropriation of $835 to advertising in the BOS budget to pay for the ad regarding the charter revisions that appeared recently in local newspapers and was not a planned expense in the current budget. This appropriation will require Waterford Board of Finance (BOF( approval.

The BOS also made the following appointments:

Youth Services Advisory Council Term from 06/03/2010 to 06/02/2013: Mark Gelinas, Ryan McNamara, Maureen Murphy, Jody Nezarchyk, Murray "Bud" Pendleton, and Nicole VanOverloop

Youth Services Advisory Council Term from 06/03/09 to 06/02/2012: Gene Ryan

Economic Development Commission term from 09/01/2010 to 08/31/2014: Rodney Pinkham; Bill Colonis.

The BOS approved the formation of the following AD Hoc Committees: Animal Control Facility Study: Mike Glidden; Jeff Nixon; Margaret Ormand; Robin Perkins; Karen West; and Diane Amburn.

Capital Improvement Fiscal Planning Committee: Members Finance Director Rudie Beets; Town Planner Tom Wagner; First Selectman Dan Steward; and one member for BOF and two from RTM.
