The first annual New London Youth Talent Show opened the stage of the Garde Arts Center for local young people to perform in front of a sold out crowd. The show sprung from discussions at the first New London Anti-Violence meeting in the wake of the murder of Matthew Chew. Unhappy with the way local youth were cast in a negative light, Frank Colmenares and Police Officer Anthony Nolan suggested the show as a positive creative outlet.

Performers in the first act included Shariena Hill, Kirshon Augmon, Frank Colmenares, Justin "Jus Cuz" Dozier, JMD, Claudia Perez, Twist, Flavor Conclusion, Hakeem Donnett, Fresco Fred, Todd Belcher, Andrew Camacho and Sara Buscetto.
