Hip Hop for the Homeless show Friday night

Rapper Joey Batts continues to host his annual winter "Hip Hop for the Homeless" events across Connecticut — and the entourage stops Friday in New London's Oasis Pub. It's the third annual charity tour undertaken by Batts, who, by day, teaches language arts at Opportunity High School in Hartford.

At each of the six towns on junket, Joey Batts & Them serve as hosts and the headline act on bills that largely feature local talent. Proceeds from each show in turn benefit a homeless cause specific to that community — and New London's Homeless Hospitality Center will be the beneficiary of the Oasis show.

It's a truly impressive bill, too: N.M.E. the Illest, Ceschi Ramos, Suave-Ski, Mugs, Jonny Empire, Chef the chef, Stryfe, James Joyce, White Cheddar, Brash, Skobie Won and Chumzilla will all perform.

Hip Hop for the Homeless, 8 p.m. Friday, Oasis Pub, 16 Bank St., New London; $5, with all proceeds from tickets, raffles, auctions and artist merch benefit New London Homeless Hospitality Center; (860) 447-3929.
