Jay Leno does New Year's Eve show at Mohegan Sun

If Jay Leno ever decides to give up this whole comedy thing, he could have a second career as a male Suze Orman.

If he were your financial adviser, you'd be rich right now. Here's why: Leno has spent much of his life working two jobs and banking the entire income from the more lucrative one of those gigs. At first, those jobs were one at a car dealership and another as a comedian.

Of course, later on, he ended up hosting "The Tonight Show" for two decades. Even with that responsibility, he was out crisscrossing the country on weekends to do standup shows. He says he lived off the money from the concerts and banked the "Tonight Show" salary. He told CNBC earlier this year, "I've never touched a dime of my 'Tonight Show' money. Ever." Jay, I think it's okay to start spending some of that "Tonight Show" dough.

Anyway, Leno will be in town to make your New Year's Eve a laugh-packed one. He's performing Saturday at the Mohegan Sun Arena. He's a practiced, first-rate standup, so you know this'll be a good show.

Jay Leno, 8 p.m. Saturday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $39; 1-800-745-3000.
