    Patti LaBelle plays Mohegan Sun

    Patti LaBelle (Scott Roth/Invision/AP)

Patti LaBelle is fabulous in concert, but you know the one thing that could make the audience’s experience even better? If Patti served them all her sweet potato pie.

In case you hadn’t heard, LaBelle is quite the chef, and when Walmart started selling her sweet potato pies, James Wright Chanel hilariously lost his mind over the glories of those pies. The YouTube video of his reaction went viral, which, of course, brought more notice to the baked good — to such an extent that, at one point, Walmart was selling one pie every single second.

Good to know LaBelle has a backup career, should this whole singing thing not work out. We kid! LaBelle is a vocal icon, and she’s won all sorts of Grammys and lifetime achievement awards. She’ll perform Saturday in the Mohegan Sun Arena, and she’ll turn that inimitable voice loose on all her hits, from “New Attitude” to “Lady Marmalade” to “On My Own.” She might, too, work in some numbers from “Bel Hommage,” the jazz album — her first jazz album ever — that she released last year.

Patti LaBelle, 8 p.m. Saturday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $19-$39; 1-800-745-3000.
